Self Portrait Session

I've been talking a lot to a Sydney-sider friend of mine recently, Andy. She's a photographer too and we've talked a lot about how when you get out of the rhythm of shooting, when you finally do shoot it's like you're back at equilibrium all over again. She bullied me into taking self portraits and I managed to bully her into doing the same! We both agreed that the process of taking self portraits almost therapeutic. I actually think I was reminded of how much I've missed the process because when I was on my way home from overseas, I was in Bangkok and couldn't sleep and decided to make do with what I had (given that my Dad doesn't particularly like his photo taken and my cousins were off in Cambodia). You can see the two shots I nabbed over there in the blog post about Thailand

Definitely need to make more of an effort to shoot self portraits. 99% of the time I absolutely hate being caught in the frame (and admittedly this causes a few of my friends some headaches) so it's nice to feel in control of a situation where the end product is photos where I'm on the other side of the lens. I really admire photographers like Shannon Lowe that seem to so effortlessly produce self portraits so I guess it's another thing to keep working on!

I'll have you know I was standing in my bath tub for all of these photos to be taken!
